1. Normalize
Formats such as 6125551234, (612) 555-1234, and +1 612 555 1234 resolve to one E.164 record and one canonical page.
2. Check the cache
Carrier and line-type data do not need to be purchased again on every view. Fresh cached data returns immediately. Cache duration and daily provider limits are configurable.
3. Label the source
Verified telecom information, caller-ID database results, and community submissions appear in separate sections. If a caller name is unavailable, we say exactly that.
4. Add community context
Spam and legitimate signals are combined with Bayesian weighting. Small samples remain visibly low-confidence.
5. Respect suppression
An approved caller-name suppression request wins over future enrichment. The upstream provider cannot quietly put suppressed identity data back on the public page.
